When a situation arises where there is acute pollution from transport on land and sea, agriculture, buried oil tanks, petrol stations or the like, the necessary emergency equipment and crew must be in place. According to the regulations on municipal preparedness against acute pollution , the municipality has a duty to be prepared for minor cases of acute pollution that may occur or cause harmful effects within the municipality.
With the emergency container from Mezonic, the municipality can collect contaminated material. Material can be safely stored and transported in the CC Container from situations of acute pollution. The container is UN-certified for transport and storage of infectious biological material, hazardous waste, corrosive liquids, oils, medical waste and sharp objects such as syringe tips, and a number of other demanding contents.
The regulations Municipal emergency preparedness against acute pollution make the municipality responsible for establishing emergency preparedness to stop, remove and limit the effect of minor cases of acute pollution according to the Pollution Control Act § 40. The regulations shall ensure the establishment of effective and good municipal emergency preparedness against minor cases of acute pollution.
Each municipality is required to perform an environmental risk analysis. On the basis of this environmental risk analysis, a contingency analysis shall be prepared, which shall establish a framework for the municipalities' contingency against cases of acute pollution; organization of emergency preparedness, planning for necessary emergency preparedness equipment, crew and response time.
The practical municipal emergency preparedness against acute pollution is gathered in emergency preparedness regions, the Intermunicipal Committee against Acute Pollution (IUA), and is based on the fire service's capacities.
