Our environmental responsibility

Mezonic is an environmental technology company. We are committed to helping take care of our planet, climate and environment. Our ambition is to be at the forefront as an environmentally oriented company. Key themes and focus areas for us are within reuse, recycling and sustainable use of plastic as a construction material. An important part of Mezonic's business is to develop and produce solutions that will make it easier to recycle - everything from food waste to hazardous waste. We have prepared an internal CO2 account, and plan to be CO2 neutral in 2022.

  • Certified according to the environmental standard ISO 14001.

Why plastic?

We use plastic in the products we develop and produce for ourselves and for our customers. Plastic helps us to make products with a lower CO2 footprint than we otherwise could. An example of a product we have developed that gives a lower CO2 footprint than competitors on the market is the distribution cabinet in plastic from Armaturjonsson. This is often produced in aluminum or steel, but it actually takes significantly less energy to produce it in plastic. Read more about it here.

It is important for us to take circular economy into account. We use plastic primarily as a construction material, not for single use. We have a strong focus on developing products that can replace disposable materials. We are also concerned with getting to know the entire life cycle of the products we produce, so that we can develop the most sustainable products possible.

Reuse and waste

Green Point logo

We take responsibility for our packaging and are members of Green Point Norway. Membership in Green Point ensures that our packaging is collected and recovered. Through our membership, we support a more resourceful and sustainable society.

logo waste norway

We are a member of waste Norway and support their efforts to create better framework conditions for the industry. Waste Norway is an interest organization for companies in the recycling industry.

NFFA logo

We have membership in the Norwegian Association for Hazardous Waste (NFFA). Information about what this membershipentails: " The membership attests that the business constitutes an important social function, is part of a value chain that entices that pollutants be taken out of the circuit and that useful substances are recycled. Members of nffa shall have introduced quality and other management systems that ensure a high environmental standard in the implementation of assignments, safety for the employees and for the environment."

Renewable and climate-friendly energy in our premises and production

We use Skagerak Varme AS, which delivers climate-friendly heat, and they harness energy that would otherwise be lost. Skagerak Varme AS uses a heat pump based on seawater in Horten, waste heat from the industry in Porsgrunn, and bioenergy based on forest chips in Tønsberg. Skien District heating supplies energy based on bioenergy (tile).

Operation Clean Sweep

We participate in Operation Clean Sweep, which has an ambition to stop the release of plastic pellets from plastic factories. Mermaid tears, as we call it in Norway, are a big problem as they are small, and are drawn into the world's oceans of waterways and rivers. Operation Clean Sweep assists with recommendations and materials for plastic production companies around the world to reduce emissions.

WWF logo

WWF is organising a business petition that companies can sign on to encourage the government to work actively and targeted for a global nature agreement. In 2020, world leaders gathered in the Chinese city of Kunming. They meet to negotiate a global agreement to protect our biodiversity.

By signing the petition, we in Mezonic commit to working systematically and continuously to reduce the consumption of resources, and avoid negative impact on nature. Together with environmentally conscious companies such as ASKO, Bergans of Norway and REV Ocean, we will put pressure on the government's efforts to save the world's biodiversity and our climate.
